The Marion County Fair completed its eight-day run with a first ever car show and an appearance by the Pro Pulling League Tractor Pull in front of the grandstand.
The car show attracted 61 entries from 14 different communities. Four semi-trucks were among the entries of cars, SUVs, and pickups.
The winner of the People’s Choice was Marissa Wooters and Tom Wooters of Salem. The Sheriff’s Choice was Brent Mann. The Theme Award was presented to Ricky and Taylor Dobyns. The Queen’s Choice was Wayne Steavens of Salem. The Gentleman’s Pick Choice was Steve Dunahee of Salem.
The fair board was pleased with the first year turnout, especially with questionable weather early Saturday morning. A car show will be planned again as part of the fair with a second show possibly being held in the spring.
A large crowd was in the grandstand and in the midway for the final night of the fair on Saturday as activities wrapped up for the year.
