Homeless Salem man sentenced to three years in prison on loitering charge

A 36-year-old homeless Salem man has been sentenced to three years in prison for being a sex offender loitering within 500 feet of a school.

Jason Belman will serve the time concurrently with a six year prison term handed down on each of two failure to register as a sex offender charges in Clinton County Court.   He will have to serve up to a year of mandatory supervised release when getting out of prison.

Salem Police arrested Belman in April when learning he was staying inside a car parked on East Boone Street within 500 feet of Salem Community High School property.
