Kaskaskia College has presented its Distinguished Alumnus Award to lifelong banker Tom Holloway who was a 1968 graduate of Centralia High School and 1970 graduate of Kaskaskia College.

College President George Evans called Holloway an example for what happens if you work hard.   After KC, Holloway went on to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree at SIU-Carbondale.   Evans and other college leaders met Holloway and learned of his Kaskaskia College background when he mentioned it while serving as emcee of a Southwestern Illinois Leadership Council Banquet.   Evans noted Holloway exemplifies KC’s core values and in addition to his 40 plus years in banking mostly in management at the Bank of Edwardsville he has also been active in community organizations.

Holloway, in accepting the award, noted as a 17 year old he came to Kaskaskia College not knowing what he wanted to do, but loved math.  After his first semester, with a college recommendation, obtained his first part-time job in banking.

“I enjoyed every minute here.  And over a lifetime I look back at what I took with me from my experience here.  And it’s nothing short of extraordinary.”

Holloway closed his remarks by saying, ‘Once a Blue Devil, always a Blue Devil’.
