A 26-year-old Odin man sustained apparent minor injuries in a one vehicle crash in rural Iuka early Sunday morning.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports Ryan Niepoetter of East Chestnut was driving on the Iuka Road north of Apple Road south of Iuka when he apparently fell asleep, his vehicle overturned, and went down an embankment on the eastside of the road.
Niepoetter was not at the scene by the time Iuka Fire Department first responders arrived on the scene.
He told sheriff’s deputies he was going for treatment at Salem Township Hospital but deputies don’t believe he ever made it there and they later talked to him about the crash at his home.
A vehicle crash notification system first reported the crash at 3:50 Sunday morning.
