Kell Firemen report minor damage to the kitchen of a Kell home following a Wednesday afternoon fire.
The fire was at the Sheila Carpenter home at 111 3rd Street in Kell.
Fire officials say the homeowners arrived home and found the home full of smoke. A smoldering fire was found in the cabinets above the stove as well as in items near the stove where a gas burner was found burning.
Firefighters used a water can to put the fire out and ventilated the home to free the smoke.
Damage was limited to a section of cabinets above the stove with minor smoke damage to the adjoining rooms.
Firemen were on the scene for about 30 minutes after receiving the call at 3:28 Wednesday afternoon.
