COVID-19 numbers remain low across South Central Illinois. All area counties remain at the low community level.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says there were no COVID-19 related deaths in the week ending Wednesday and for another week there are no congregate care facilities in outbreak status.
The Centers for Disease Control weekly COVID-19 tracker shows 15 new or probable cases of COVID-19 in Marion County for the week ending Wednesday. There were two new hospitalizations.
Clinton County had four new cases and one new hospitalization. Jefferson County had 17 new cases and three hospitalizations. Washington County had just one new case and one hospitalization. Fayette County had seven new cases and two hospitalizations. Clay County had two new cases and no new hospitalizations. Wayne County had eight new cases and one new hospitalization.
Statewide, there are 14 counties at an elevated level of COVID-19, all at the medium community level. Four of those counties are in Southern Illinois, Franklin, Perry, Jackson and Williamson. There were 7,195 new confirmed and probable cases for the week ending April 2nd and 14 deaths.
As of Thursday night, 703 individuals were in the hospital. 79 were in ICU and 21 on ventilators.
