A 19-year-old Odin man has been charged in Marion County Court with two counts of aggravated battery to a correctional officer.

Noah Meredith of Oak Street is accused of spitting twice on the same correctional officer when he was being led back to his jail cell on Tuesday.  Sheriff’s Department reports also indicate that Meredith allegedly kneed and kicked the officer.

Meredith was being held in the Marion County Jail on separate pending charges of felony domestic battery and aggravated battery.

No additional bond was set.   Meredith is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bond on the aggravated battery charged where he is accused of stabbing his roommate in the arm with a knife and striking him with a golf club.  The alleged victim was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment.

Meredith had the public defender appointed to represent him.
