Five area fire departments fought a fire that burned seven acres of woods late Thursday afternoon.
Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says the fire was on the Charles Rash property in the 300 block of Stevenson Road off Medlin Road southeast of Centralia. It started from a brush fire that got out of hand.
Boshera called for assistance from Salem, Odin, Kell, and Centralia City Fire Departments. He requested side-by-sides and UTVs from all the departments to get back into the wooded area where a brush truck could not reach.
Boshera reports no buildings were endangered.
