Gary Gaetti gathers with Cardinal fans on two of the bench seats removed from the old Busch Stadium on Gary Gaetti Day in 2022.

Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder will officially present a proclamation at Monday night’s City Council meeting declaring the opening day of the Major League Baseball Season on Thursday as Gary Gaetti Day.

As part of the celebration, the Gaetti Sports Academy will have an open house from six to eight Thursday night where you can meet Gary, grab a free hot dog (while supplies last) and watch the hitting and pitching competitions going on that evening.

The proclamation notes ‘The hard-work, dedication and God-given ability of Gary Gaetti has provided years of enjoyment and pride to the citizens of Centralia.’

The 18,000 square foot climate-controlled facility is equipped with the latest HitTrax Simulator and training technology and offers eight batting cages along with six pitching ages.  The GSA features one-of-a-kind training curriculum designed by four former MLB Players:  Gary Gaetti, Kirk Reuter, Bryan Eversgerd, and Dwight Bernard.
