The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus is returning to Central City in April.
The sponsoring Central City/Centralia Lions Club says the circus will be at the Central City Village Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 15th and 16th.
The authentic One-Ring Big Top Circus will include a brand new 2023 performance featuring Big Cats presented by Trey Key, Aerialist Extraordinaire Simone on the trapeze, 10th generation Loyal Bareback Horse Riders, the Perez Daredevil Duo on the Tight Rope and Wheel of Destiny, and Circus Clown Leo Acton.
Everyone is invited to the Tent Raising and Tour at 9:30 on Saturday morning, April 15th. The Midway will open at one on both Saturday and Sunday. Circus performances will be at two and 4:30 both days. Each performance will last about 90 minutes.
Tickets for adults are $13 in advance and $8 for children or senior citizens. If bought at the event, they will be $16 for adults and $9 for children or seniors. Tickets will be available at Central City Village Hall, Centralia City Hall at the water billing department, City of Wamac, Centralia Township Office from eight to noon and at Rick’s Ace Hardware and Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.
The money raised with assist the Central City/Centralia Lions Club in providing eyeglasses and hearing aids to those in need in the community, provide scholastic scholarships to selected seniors at Centralia High School or Christ Our Rock High School who will be enrolling freshman at Kaskaskia College, and miscellaneous donations to requests from various organizations throughout the community.
