The Salem City Council Monday night approved the repainting of the Aquatic Center. Most of the work is anticipated to be completed before the center opens for the summer. Henson Painting will complete the work at a cost of $21,546. The painting will include the addition of racing stripes in the deep end of the pool. One of the diving boards will also be replaced. The other was fixed last year.
The board approved JK Trotter and Sons completing emergency sewer line replacement work in the East Lawn Cemetery at a cost of $13,500.
The city will pay up to $20,000 for the contractor currently replacing concrete panels at the entrance to XPO Logistics on North Selmaville Road to also replace some of the failed panels in the roadway.
Bids were also approved for various summer street maintenance materials.
The council reluctantly approved adding Real Estate Broker Cindy Quinn Wood to a special use permit for T-Squared LLC in the former Paradise Flowers building on North Broadway, although they were unhappy the real estate portion of the business was not presented as part of the original special use permit.
The council approved an ordinance vacating property rights on an undeveloped portion of the 800 block of South Jefferson Street.
