Police Beat for Sunday, March 12th, 2023

Centralia Police have arrested a 51-year-old Centralia man for aggravated DUI with no driver’s license.  Basilio Moises of South Brookside was reportedly involved in a non-injury crash.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail.

36-year-old Mitchell Finley of East 7th in Junction City was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a Marion County failure to appear DUI warrant.  He remains in custody in lieu of $500 bond.

44-year-old Kevin Batson of North Elm in Centralia was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a failure to appear retail theft warrant.  He posted $500 cash bond and was released.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department investigated a burglary reported on Saturday to a shed in the 900 block of Jefferson Street in Kell.  Entry was reportedly gained through a window, but nothing was reported missing.

The sheriff’s department is also investigating a possible attempted burglary at a home in the 5400 block of England Road in rural Salem.  A resident returned home on Saturday to find a back window screen cut open and a ladder at the window.   Nothing was reported missing and no one was found in the residence.

Kell Firemen were called to a car fire outside the Twisted Sisters Bar on Route 37 and Kell Road on Saturday morning.  The fire in the car owned by Melony Taylor was put out prior to causing damage to the building.  The amount of damage to the car and the cause of the fire are unknown.
