An 82-year-old Central City man has pleaded guilty to unlawful restraint in exchange for two counts of criminal sexual abuse being dropped.
Vince Ayala of Patterson Street was sentenced in Marion County Court on Tuesday to 30 months probation along with drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment.
Ayala admitted to preventing a person from walking away by placing out his arm.
The first criminal sexual abuse charge that was dropped claimed Ayala committed an act of sexual conduct with a person under 13 who was unable to give knowing consent. The second dropped count claims by use of force or threat of force he pulled the juvenile by the arm when she attempted to leave and touched her body for sexual gratification.
At the time of the arrest in October 2021, Central City Police say Ayala had taken the girl into his home and allegedly committed a sexual act. After initially being pulled back into a room, she was eventually allowed to leave.
The girl notified her parents when getting out of the home and was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
