The Centralia Fire Protection District was called to Monical’s Pizza at 1310 North Elm Street around eight Thursday morning when smoke began filling the attic and building.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says they were quickly able to isolate the problem.

“It appears that an HVAC unit burned up and was filling the building with smoke.  No damage to the building other than the heating and cooling unit and the business should be able to reopen in the next day or so.”

The smoke appeared as the owner was turning on the equipment to open for the day.
