Bond has been set at $10,000 for a 42-year-old Salem man who was allegedly caught by Salem Police cutting off a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the driveway of a home on East Boone Street.
Curtis Holstlaw of North Hamilton was charged in Marion County Court on Wednesday with felony criminal damage to property.
Holstlaw was not initially arrested on February 4th because he claimed the owner of the car had given him permission to remove the catalytic converter.
When Salem Police found the owner, he indicated he had given no permission. Holstlaw was taken into custody by Centralia Police during a traffic stop this weekend and turned over to Salem Police who asked for the charge to be filed.
Holstlaw had a public defender appointed to represent him.
