A 67-year-old rural Iuka man was airlifted from the scene of a one vehicle crash on the Route 161 extension about a half mile east of Route 37 Thursday night.
The driver is identified as David Williams of Green Road.
The Salem Fire Protection District said it appeared Williams had run off the road and struck a culvert. They assisted United Medical Response in getting Williams out of the vehicle and setting up the nearby landing zone for the Air Evac helicopter.
Williams was the only one in the vehicle.
The crash was reported at 7:14 Thursday night.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is handling the crash, but reports are not yet available.
