Centralia City Grade School Superintendent Craig Clark is hoping students will begin being able to use the new Schiller School multi-purpose building in March.
Clark told the school board this week that the brick has been started on the outside of the building. It is expected to be completed in a couple of weeks. The interior paint has been started and should be finished within a week. Interior doors have been hung. The bathroom walls are in place and as soon as the painting is completed fixtures will be hung. Clark reports there is a chance the flooring could be installed by the end of the month.
Clark also updated a number of other projects. The Junior High Mansard will be demolished soon. The installer is waiting for the delivery of the materials. It should be a three-week process from start to finish on the project.
The replacement of the Junior High Awnings is waiting for the architects and contractors to provide a start date. Materials have been approved.
Bids for site preparation and utilities were opened for the Central and Jordan School additions. The architects will review the bids and recommend the contractors for the next board meeting. If the board approves the lowest bid, site work for Jordan could begin on April first and at Central on June 1st.
The board approved the purchase and installation of FOB readers for Schiller, Jordan, and the Junior High from Security Alarm at a cost of $21,650.
In personnel news, the board approved the resignations of Amber Cooker as Cross-Country Coach and Theresa Feltner as a bus driver. The board hired Kiana Algire as Jordan School Mental Health Support and Mackenzie Felgenhauer as Central Middle School Mental Health Support.
