LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Matt Bradley scored 18 points before fouling out in the final minutes and helped No. 17 San Diego State rally from a slow start to beat Ohio State 88-77 in the first round of the Maui Invitational. Bradley led a balanced attack that included Lamont Butler and Micah Parrish with 15 points apiece and Adam Seiko with 14 for the Aztecs, who improved to 4-0. Sean McNeil scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half for Ohio State, which was playing away from Columbus for the first time this season and dropped to 3-1. Brice Sensabuagh scored 17 and Bruce Thornton 13.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Kris Murray scored a career-high 30 points as No. 25 Iowa defeated Omaha 100-64 in an Emerald Coast Classic preliminary game. Murray, coming off matching his previous career high with 29 points in the Hawkeyes’ 83-67 win at Seton Hall last Wednesday, had his first shot blocked by Omaha’s Dylan Brougham 86 seconds into the game. He then proceeded to hit 11 consecutive shots on his way to a 25-point first half. The junior finished 13 of 17 from the field and added seven rebounds. Patrick McCaffery added 16 points for the Hawkeyes.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mohamed Ibrahim was having a hard time realizing how remarkable of a game he played for Minnesota in a loss to Iowa. The sixth-year tailback rushed for a career-high 263 yards against a fierce and proud defense. Ibrahim also lost a late fumble deep in Hawkeyes territory. The Gophers are seeking to bounce back when they play at Wisconsin this weekend. Ibrahim has a prime opportunity to set the program records for career and season rushing yards. He leads the nation in rushing yards per game this year.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An attorney for the widow of a former University of Southern California football player has asked a jury to award her more than $50 million in a lawsuit accusing the NCAA with failing to protect her husband from repetitive head trauma. Attorneys in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday said that Matt Gee died from repetitive head trauma that led to substance abuse and his death at age 49. The lawsuit is the first of its kind to go to a jury. The NCAA says it had nothing to do with Gee’s death, which it said was from a variety of medical problems and cocaine toxicity.

UNDATED (AP) — Virginia climbed 11 spots to No. 5 in this week’s AP Top 25 following a difficult week. The Cavaliers canceled their game against Northern Iowa after three football players were fatally shot. Virginia opted to play in Las Vegas, beating No. 7 Baylor and No. 16 Illinois to win Continental Tire Main Event. North Carolina held its place in the top spot, receiving 47 first-place votes from a media panel. No. 2 Houston moved up a spot for its highest ranking since 1983. Kansas is No. 3 and Texas climbed seven spots to No. 4.

UNDATED (AP) — South Carolina and Stanford are still 1-2 in The Associated Press women’s basketball poll after their game over the weekend. The Gamecocks won in overtime and got all 29 first-place votes in the AP Top 25. It was a chaotic week that saw half of the top 10 teams lose at least one game. UConn, Ohio State and Iowa State round out the first five. Indiana and North Carolina have jumped into the top 10. UCLA and Kansas State are in the poll for the first time this season. Oklahoma and Nebraska are out.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — No. 3 Michigan running back Blake Corum may be the most pivotal player in The Game against No. 2 Ohio State on the road Saturday with a spot in the Big Ten championship game and likely the College Football Playoff at stake. His numbers stack up well with players at his position who have won the Heisman Trophy this century. Corum might have a shot to win the award if he can put together a spectacular performance in a win against the Buckeyes as former Michigan stars Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson did before being voted college football’s most outstanding player.

UNDATED (AP) — Southern California moved into the top five of The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in five years. Georgia received 62 of the 63 first-place votes in the AP Top 25 as the top four teams held their places after playing varying degrees of close games Saturday. No. 2 Ohio State received the other first-place vote. Michigan was No. 3 again, followed by TCU. The Trojans edged up two spots after a thrilling victory against rival UCLA. The last time USC was ranked in the top five was September of 2017, when it started at No. 4 but spent most of the season ranked in the teens before finishing at 12th.
