Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder and City Council candidate Barri Allen were on hand at Centralia City Hall Monday morning as candidate filing began.
Kuder, who is finishing a two year term as Mayor, is now seeking serve another four years as Mayor.
“I believe it’s a pleasure again to be able to run for the position of mayor. It comes down to myself and council starting a lot of major projects and I would like to see those come through. Such as the water plant, swimming pool, revitalization of downtown and trying to get a lot more people to move into Centralia because it’s a great city.”
So far no other petitions have been picked up to run for Mayor.
Allen is a newcomer to politics.
“I am from Centralia originally. I have lived here most of my life. I moved to Edwardsville for 20 years but I’m back and have been for about a year. I feel like this community has always given to me and my family and I am excited to give back to them. I want to be a part of the city council and a part of the city’s growth.”
Centralia has the mayor’s job and two council seats open in the April municipal election. Filing continues through next Monday afternoon at five pm.
