Most government offices and schools are closed Friday for the Veterans Day Holiday. That includes area courthouses and Salem and Centralia City Halls. There will be no home mail delivery, most financial institutions are closed, and the Illinois Secretary of State Driver License facilities will not be open.
There will be a Veterans Day Program at Centralia American Legion Post 446 at 117 South Poplar in Centralia starting at 10:30 Friday morning. A number of local veterans will be inducted into the Court of Honor. This year’s honored speaker will be Lieutenant Commander Bill Adams US Navy retired. There will be Color and Honor Guards included in the program. Lunch will be served after the program including turkey, ham, and all the trimmings.
