A 69-year-old Du Bois man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in Jefferson County Court on a Class X charge of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Under state law, James Martin Senior will have to serve 85-percent of the sentence.  He had two other counts of predatory criminal sexual assault dropped when earlier entering an open negotiated plea.

Martin is accused in the original bill of indictment for committing sexual acts with a child under 13 between 2011 and 2012 while in Mt. Vernon.  The incident was not reported until March of this year.   Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies took the initial report and sent it to Mt. Vernon Police for investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Jefferson County Assistant State’s Attorney Julie Kozuszek.
