North Clay got a 2 out, 2-run double from Cayden Craig in the top of the 7th to break a 3-3 tie and lead North Clay to a 5-4 win over South Central in their NTC quarterfinal matchup at Lions Field in Kinmundy.
The Cougars trailed 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th when Aidan Dodson hit a 2-run homer to cut the deficit. Callaway Smith then hit a ball to the right field fence to tie the game in the sixth only to see Craig come away with the huge hit.
The Cougars had a chance with the bases loaded and 2 outs down by one but Anthony Buonaura flew out to end the game. Alex Boose was the winning pitcher and was great going all 7 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits.
The Cardinals advance to tomorrow’s semifinals where they will take on Altamont. The other semifinal will see St Anthony taking on Windsor/Stew Stras after the Hatchets earned a 12-2 win over Dieterich.
