A 38-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty in Marion County Court to one of seven failure to register as a sex offender charges pending against him.

Christopher Waldon of Sherwood Drive admitted to failure to register a KIK social media account in August of 2020.  The other six charges that were dropped were all for missing other quarterly registrations of the KIK account with Salem Police through July 2021.

In addition to the prison time, Waldon was fined $500 and ordered to complete one year of parole.

Salem Police say Jefferson County Detective Bobby Wallace working with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered the account.  A search warrant was obtained for Waldon’s residence in February of this year before he was taken into custody.
