A 30-year-old Carlyle man has pleaded guilty in Clinton County Court to two Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. As part of the plea agreement, two other charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim under nine years of age were dropped.
Michael Parker will be sentenced on November 16th following a presentence investigation. As part of the plea, prosecutors have agreed to ask for no more than a 30-year prison term per count or 60 years total. However, Parker was warned the court would not be bound by the prosecution’s recommendation. Parker will have to serve 85 percent of whatever sentence is handed down.
Parker had been held in the Clinton County Jail in lieu of a half million dollars bond since his arrest on the charges in January. After entering the plea agreement on Wednesday, the bond was revoked.
