Salem Police have arrested a 19-year-old Salem man for eight counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and motor vehicle theft.
Brandon Powell of West Warmouth was taken into custody when allegedly tied to the series of incidents that began early Saturday morning.
The first reports were received at 2:30 Saturday morning. They included three complaints of a burglary to a motor vehicle and one complaint of theft of a motor vehicle from the parking lot of a Salem industry at 1875 West Main Street.
At 5:13 Saturday morning, police reported the stolen motor vehicle was located in the 200 block of West Rogers in Salem.
Salem Police then received nine additional reports of burglary to a motor vehicle between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm on Saturday. The complaints were from the 200 block of West Warmouth, 600 block of West Lovell, 400 block of North Ohio, 300 block of West Rogers, 400 block of North Pearl, 400 block of North College, 100 block of Westgate Avenue, 300 block of West Allmon and the 700 block of West Warmouth.
After an initial investigation, Powell was arrested for the motor vehicle theft and eight counts of burglary to a motor vehicle.
Salem Police say the incidents are still under investigation. Additional stolen items have been recovered, but currently, there are no corresponding complaints at this time. The Salem Police Department is requesting anyone who is missing items from their vehicles to please call and make a report.
Police are also asking for any security camera footage from those areas with evidence of the burglaries.
Salem Police report more information will be released as the investigation continues.
