A 25-year-old Centralia man faces new charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest after allegedly running from Centralia Police across the Centralia Walmart parking lot on Sunday afternoon.

Lindell Troupe of North Hickory Street had bond set at $20,000 during his first appearance in Clinton County Court on Monday.

Centralia Police say an off-duty Centralia officer had spotted Troupe in the Walmart store and knew he was wanted.  He notified dispatch who sent officers to the scene.  When one attempted to stop Troupe, who was now in the parking lot, he allegedly ran through the parking lot, broke a fence trying to climb it, and then running into what turned out to be unmarked squad car and falling to the group.   Police say Troupe then allegedly resisted being handcuffed.

During a search, Troupe was discovered to be in possession of eight pills believed to be ecstasy.

In addition to the new charges, Troupe is also being held on a Marion County criminal trespass to property warrant and a Clinton County warrant for violation of an order of protection.
