Salem Community High School Superintendent Dr. Brad Detering says everything is on schedule to complete more than $10 million in heating, air conditioning, lighting, and window replacement by the start of school in August.
He updated the school board Monday night.
“Construction projects are on schedule according to the construction meeting. We are excited about how much work is going on. If you come out here on any given day there are 4 or 5 companies and crews that have multiple guys on their crews that are working. We are really excited about the progress that is being made and we are cautiously optimistic we will be on schedule to be finished by August 15th.”
Detering has been assured if there are some small items not yet completed school will still be able to start on time.
He reported the entire campus will be closed on July 8th when a helicopter will be lifting the large heating and air conditioning units to the roof of the school. Detering says while no one will be allowed on the school grounds that day, you will be able to watch from Bryan Memorial Park across the street.
The board Monday night added a $24,900 upgrade of the security system through Security Alarm that could be completed while the wiring is exposed for other work.
