Centralia’s new City Manager is scheduled to sworn in at Monday’s city council meeting. William Korey Smith, who is currently the City Attorney, signed a contract at the last meeting two weeks ago to become the new city manager. Smith replaces Scott Randall whose tenure lasted only six months.
The city council will be asked to approve five ordinances declaring vacant property owned by the city as surplus so they can be put out for bid. The city hopes to dispose of real estate at 1335 South Locust, 1015 North Franklin, 508 and 510 East Kell, 902 South Marion, and a more than acre of vacant land on Raccoon Lake that includes a deep ravine making it difficult to use for a homesite.
The bids will be opened at the June 13th meeting.
The council will be asked to approve the continued service of Shannon Cooney on the Tourism Commission and Arizona Berning on the Veterans Affairs Committee.
The city council meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
