Blues barely escape Arizona Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Justin Faulk scored his second goal 30 seconds into overtime and the St. Louis Blues stretched their franchise-record points streak to 15 games with a 5-4 win over the Arizona Coyotes after blowing a three-goal lead. St. Louis built leads of 3-0 and 4-1 against one of the NHL’s worst teams. The Coyotes clawed their way back, pulling within 4-3 on goals by Bokondji Imama and Michael Carcone 46 seconds apart early in the third period. J.J. Moser tied it with just under five minutes left. St. Louis is tied with Minnesota for second in the Central Division with 107 points.

Elsewhere on NHL ice:

— The Carolina Hurricanes have taken sole possession of first place in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, moving two points ahead of the New York Rangers. The Hurricanes staged a frantic comeback in their third straight win, 3-2 over the Devils. Rookie Seth Jarvis won it 1:39 into overtime after Carolina erased a 2-0 deficit in the final five minutes of regulation. Brady Skjei (shay) started the rally and Nino Niederreiter (NEE’-dur-eye-tur) tied it with 1:56 remaining in the third period. The Rangers lost their share of the division lead with a 3-1 setback in Boston. David Pastrnak (PAHS’-tur-nahk) scored his team-leading 39th goal after missing the previous eight games with an undisclosed injury. Taylor Hall and Trent Frederic also scored to support Linus Ullmark (LEE’-nuhs OOL’-mahrk), who finished with 30 saves.

— Brandon Montour scored 2:26 into overtime to give league-leading Florida a 3-2 triumph over Toronto. Claude Giroux (juh-ROO’) had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, whose winning streak matches the seventh-longest in NHL history and is the league’s best since Columbus won 16 straight in the 2016-17 season.

— Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov (KOO’-cheh-rahv) provided power-play goals in the first period of the Lightning’s 6-2 rout of the Predators. Kucherov also had two assists, and Steve Stamkos had a goal and an assist to help Tampa Bay stay three points ahead of the Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division.

— Evgeni Malkin scored twice in the Penguins’ third win in four games, 7-2 against the Red Wings. Kris Letang had a goal and two assists for Pittsburgh, while Sidney Crosby, Rickard Rakell, and Chad Ruhwedel (roo-WEE’-dehl) each finished with a goal and an assist.

— Dallas trailed 2-0 until Roope (ROO’-peh) Hintz scored two goals in a span of about two minutes to catapult the Stars past the Kraken, 3-2. Vladislav Namestnikov (nah-MEHST’-nih-kahv) got the game-winner soon after Hintz netted his 37th goal of the season.

— Dillon Dube (doo-BAY’) scored twice and Elias (eh-LEE’-uhs) Lindholm notched his 40th goal in the Flames’ ninth win in 11 games, 6-3 versus the Canucks. Dan Vladar (vlah-DAHR’) started at home for just the third time this season and made 28 stops to improve to 12-5-2.

— The Kings are on the verge of their first playoff berth in four years following their 4-2 win over the Ducks. Alexander Edler scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period.

— Tage (tayj) Thompson notched his team-leading 37th goal while the Sabres scored three times in the second period of a 5-3 win over the Islanders.

— Mark Kastelic (KAS’-teh-lihk) scored his first NHL goal and his second ended up being the game-winner in the Senators’ 6-4 verdict over the Canadiens.

— Kaapo Kahkonen (KA’-poh KAH’-koh-nehn) stopped 27 shots and the Sharks won for just the second time in 13 games by defeating the Blackhawks, 4-1.
