The Wamac Police Department is investigating the shooting of a Wamac man in his home Monday night.
Wamac Police Chief Steve Prather says 27-year-old Travis Brow was found to be suffering from numerous gunshot wounds in his home in the 100 block of North Irvington Street. He was immediately treated on the scene by a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy and upon arrival of EMS was immediately taken
to St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Brow was then flown by medical helicopter to a St. Louis hospital for treatment. Prather noted even though Brow suffered numerous gunshot wounds, none appeared to be immediately life threatening.
An Illinois State Police Crime Scene agent was called to the scene to begin processing the area where the crime is believed to have occurred within the home.
Prather notes while they are not ready to discuss a possible motive, there was a large amount of evidence collected that he believes will help solve the shooting.
He adds due to Brow’s medical condition, officers have not had an opportunity to speak further with the victim. However, they hope to do so in the near future. Prather calls the investigation very active and on-going.
At the time of the original 911 call it was believed the home was located in Washington County. Once it was determined the home was in the Wamac City Limit, Wamac Police began to handle the scene with assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Irvington Police and Centralia Police. The State Crime Scene investigator later joined them. Prather notes without the assistance of those agencies it would not have been possible to complete the processing of the scene.
