Those present to receive the Pacesetter Award banner were (left to right) Elisha Monken; D Ann Davenport, Pam Prather, Lindzie Krieg; Christie Krieg, Sheila Mulvany, Bethany Orrell, Beth Orrell, Leslie McGuire and Stephanie Smith (not pictured), Senior Development Manager for the American Cancer Society.

The Marion County Relay for Life has won the Pacesetter Award for meeting or exceeding their 2021 local goal.   The goal was $25,000 and by the end of the campaign, $52,316 had been raised.

Attention now turns to preparation for this year’s Relay for Life which has been moved back to Saturday, October 22nd, at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Salem.  Once again, there will be a combined Relay for Life for the entire county.

Organizers are looking forward to trying a fall event to get away from the summer heat, and to have fall activities and food options available. This year’s Relay For Life will be very similar to past events held at the Fairgrounds. There will be the traditional Survivor Walk to open the evening, the popular Emergency Services Lap, and the Luminaria Ceremony.

Teams are being formed and anyone is encouraged to bring together friends, family members, church groups, business associates, etc. to form a Team. Teams can register at www.relayforlife.org/marionIL
