A 37-year-old Salem man has been charged in Marion County Court with seven counts of violation of the sex offender registration act.

Salem Police say Christopher Waldon of Sherwood Drive has completed his last seven quarterly registrations to confirm his address but failed to register a social media account on KIK as required by law.

Judge Mark Stedelin set bond at $40,000 on the Class Two felony charges and ordered Waldon to have no contact with anyone under 18.   He’s also prohibited from having contact with any device capable of an internet connection.    The public defender was appointed to represent him.

Salem Police say Jefferson County Detective Bobby Wallace working with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered the account.

A search warrant was obtained for Waldon’s residence in February.   He was taken into custody by Salem Police at his home on Wednesday.
