The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to approve a four year contract with current city attorney William Kory Smith to be the new city manager. Under the terms of the contract, Smith will be paid $120,000 a year plus any salary adjustment over the term of the contract granted to other city employees. If Smith is terminated for any reason except voluntary resignation, he will receive a severance payment equal to 20 weeks of salary plus four months of health insurance coverage. If approved, Smith will be sworn in as the new city manager on April 25th.

The council will consider use of a city-owned parking lot at Locust and Second Street for a Farmer’s Market for another year with Terry Herrell remaining as Market Master.

The council will once again be asked to enter into a lease agreement with 618 Sports Academy to utilize the two ball fields and the concession stand at Fairview Park this summer.

The meeting gets underway at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
