Salem Township Hospital President Alex Nazarian says a $200,000 renovation of the emergency room entrance to the hospital is scheduled to begin on Monday.
Nazarian says traffic flow into the ER has been redesigned to minimize the impact on patients during the next month and a half that the work will be underway.
“We are returning back to three registration bays, but they won’t be a common area but 3 separate offices. Then we will have an information desk as soon as you enter into the building you will be greeted by the information person there. There is a new triage area for the ER weather the patient is for the ER or can go to the Urgent Care Clinic. That is a new function that we have wanted to do for a long time.”
Nazarian says the project has been delayed as they waited for all materials to arrive, but he reports everything needed to complete the project is now on hand.
One of the first phases of the project is replacing the carpeting and furniture in the waiting room area so it can be reopened. In the interim, a waiting area has been established in the hallway.
