UNDATED (AP) — Star shortstop Carlos Correa and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a $105.3 million, three-year contract, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

The person tells The Associated Press that Correa will make $35.3 million annually and can opt out after the 2022 and 2023 seasons to become a free agent again. His average salary becomes baseball’s fourth-highest behind Mets pitcher Max Scherzer, Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole and Angels outfielder Mike Trout.

Correa joins a team that has lost 18 consecutive postseason games and finished last in the AL Central a year ago at 73-89.

Correa led the turnaround of the Astros. Houston won its first World Series title by beating the Dodgers in seven games in 2017.
