CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox filled a hole at second base, agreeing to a deal with two-time All-Star Josh Harrison. MSM Sports, which represents Harrison, tweeted the agreement. The deal is pending a physical. Harrison has played second base, third base, shortstop, and all outfield positions over 11 seasons with Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit, and Oakland. His arrival allows Leury Garcia to remain in a utility role. Harrison is a career .274 hitter. He made All-Star teams in 2014 and 2017.

— The Texas Rangers have traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa and a minor league pitcher to the Minnesota Twins for catcher Mitch Garver. Kiner-Falefa was the Rangers’ starting shortstop last season but was supplanted by the blockbuster addition of Corey Seager. Kiner-Falefa won a Gold Glove playing third base during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season for the Rangers. They then moved him to shortstop and traded Elvis Andrus (AN’-droos).
— Right-hander Chris Bassitt has been traded by the Athletics to the Mets for minor league pitchers J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller. Bassitt made a remarkable recovery from a frightening line drive to the head last year. He gives the Mets a much-needed starter for the middle of the rotation, seemingly a good fit behind aces Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer.
— A person familiar with the deal says right-handed reliever Steve Cishek (SEE’-shehk) and the Nationals have agreed to a one-year contract. Cishek is 32-39 with 132 saves in the majors. He was with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.
— Free agent pitcher Jordan Lyles and the Orioles have finalized a one-year, $7 million contract. Lyles went 10-13 with a 5.15 ERA for the Rangers last season.
