NEW YORK (AP) — Oliver Wahlstrom and Brock Nelson each scored and the New York Islanders beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1. Ilya Sorokin made 27 saves, including 14 in the third period, as the Islanders snapped a two-game skid. Robert Thomas scored for St. Louis and Jordan Binnington recorded 18 saves, but the Blues fell for the second straight game despite a late push. Thomas scored at 17:08 in the third period. Blues coach Craig Berube then pulled Binnington in favor of an extra attacker with over three minutes remaining in the game but they couldn’t get the puck past Sorokin.

— The Florida Panthers have salvaged the finale of what was a disappointing 2-3 homestand. Anton Lundell scored twice and Aleksander Barkov had three assists as the Cats beat the Red Wings, 6-2. Mason Marchment, Anthony Duclair, and Lundell scored in the first period as the Panthers built a commanding 3-1 lead. Sam Bennett had a goal and an assist, Lucas Carlsson netted one and Sergei Bobrovsky (boh-BRAHV’-skee) stopped 21 shots.
— Johnny Gaudreau scored 37 seconds into OT to give the Flames their 13th win in 15 games, 4-3 over the Avalanche. Gaudreau also set up Elias Lindholm’s two goals for the Pacific Division leaders.
— The Capitals posted a 5-2 win over the Kraken as Alex Ovechkin (oh-VECH’-kin) needed his 34th of the season and 764th of his career. Ovechkin also had two assists while pulling within two of Jaromir Jagr (YAH’-roh-meer YAH’-gur) for third on the league’s all-time goal list.
— Matt Duchene (doo-SHAYN’) scored twice and four other Predators collected at least three points in an 8-0 laugher over the Sharks. Michael McCarron had two goals and two assists, Roman Josi (YOH’-see) set up for scores, Matt Luff added two goals and a helper, and Phil Tomasino recorded three assists.
— David Pastrnak (PAHS’-tur-nahk) scored in a shootout to lift the Bruins over the Blue Jackets, 5-4. Boston has now won seven of its last eight games and is three points ahead of Washington in the wildcard quest.
— Nick Schmaltz collected a team-record seven points on two goals and five assists to carry the Coyotes past the Senators, 8-5. Schmaltz helped set up four straight goals in the third period after the Coyotes fell behind.
— The Flyers won for just the fourth time in their last 25 games as Cam Atkinson had two goals and an assist in a 4-3 verdict over the Blackhawks. Joel Farabee chipped in three assists for Philadelphia, which also received goals from Oskar Lindblom and Derick Brassard (brah-SAHRD’).
— Thatcher Demko stopped 34 shots and Alex Chiasson (CHAY’-sahn) had the go-ahead score in a three-goal third period that carried the Canucks past the Maple Leafs, 6-4. J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser (BEH’-sur), Travis Hamonic (HAM’-uh-nihk), and Tanner Pearson each had a goal and an assist each to help the Canucks overcome Auston Matthews’ two scores.
— Nick Suzuki had a goal and two assists as the Canadiens won for the seventh time in eight games, 5-2 versus the Oilers. Brendan Gallagher and Cole Caufield each had a goal and an assist for Montreal, which had won just eight of its first 48 games.
