Kell Firemen used a number of pieces of fire equipment to put together a plan that successfully rescue a dog that fell through the ice of a pond Monday afternoon.

Fire officials say the dog had fallen through the ice at the Hahs residence in the 1,000 block of State Route 37. The dog was about 25 feet from shore with ice surrounding it.

Firefighters were able to assemble a floatation device made from an extension ladder, fire hose, a back board, and air from a SCBA bottle to fill the fire hose with air to make it float. Two firemen went into the water with the device and were able to grab the dog, which was having a hard time staying above the water. Kids were smiling as the dog was brought of the water.

Kell Firemen were on the scene for about 30 minutes beginning at 4:40 Monday afternoon.
