Winter storm headed to South Central Illinois this week

A winter storm is expected to develop on Tuesday afternoon.   The National Weather Service reports we could see a substantial amount of snow and sleet accumulation, although no amounts have yet been placed in the forecast.

Here is the current forecast for the storm system.

Tuesday

A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. South wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday Night

Rain. Low around 34. The chance of precipitation is 100%.

Wednesday

Rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all snow after 4 pm. High near 38. The chance of precipitation is 100%.

Wednesday Night

Snow. Low around 23. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday

Snow likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday Night

A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10.
