Marion County Health Department reports five more COVID-19 related deaths this week

The Marion County Health Department is reporting five more COVID-19 related deaths.

One of the five was vaccinated, a male long-term care resident who was in his 80s.  The rest were unvaccinated and not long-term care residents.  They were a male in his 50s, two males in their 60s, and a female in her 60s.  All five were in the hospital at the time of their deaths.  The five additional deaths bring the number of deaths since the pandemic began to 194.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 11 congregate care facilities are in outbreak status, three more than last week.

The Clinton County Health Department has also issued its weekly report.   They are reporting two additional deaths during the seven days ending Friday bringing the total number of deceased to 110.   There were also 107 new positive cases reported during the past week.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 123,812 new cases of COVID-19 around the state for the past week.   They have also announced another 843 deaths statewide.  The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate has dropped to 9.4-percent.  More than 75-percent of state residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, while 66 percent of the population is fully vaccinated and more than 46-percent are boosted.
