The Salem Police Department has named Patrolman Grant Green as its police officer of the year and Paul Michael Anderson as its 911 Communications Officer of the Year.
Police Chief Sean Reynolds handed out the awards at the department’s annual Christmas in January party.
Green led the department in traffic stops with 377 and citations with 491. He was second on the department for calls for service handled (1,465) and arrests (93). Reynolds says Patrolman Green has been an exceptional officer since joining the department and serving the community with the utmost professionalism.
Anderson was part of a team that answered over 17,000 police-related calls for service in 2021 and over 4,000 fire and EMS calls. Besides his exceptional service as a 911 communications officer, Anderson was instrumental in completing a grant application that resulted in the Salem Police Department receiving eight new, and much needed, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Reynolds says Anderson has been a tremendous addition to the Salem Police Department since joining the team.
