Marion County Health Department reports four more positive for COVID-19

The Marion County Health Department has announced the death of four more Marion County residents who were positive for COVID-19 at the time of their deaths.

All four were not vaccinated and none were residents at long-term care facilities.  A female in her 90s, a female in her 70s, and a male in his 70s were all in the hospital at the time of their death.  The other male in his 70s was not hospitalized.

The four deaths bring the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Marion County to 189.

The Marion County Health Department has also announced there are eight Marion County congregate care facilities are in outbreak status.

The Clinton County Health Department has also released its weekly report for the week ending on Friday.  There were 109 new positive cases and no additional deaths.  There are currently nine hospitalizations, five males in their 90s, two females in their 80s, and two males in their 60s.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 183,722 new cases of COVID-19 for the week ending Friday.  The department has also announced 746 additional deaths.   The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate is at 11.9-percent.  Of Illinois’ total population, more than 74-percent have received at least one COVID shot, 65-percent are fully vaccinated and 49-percent have been boosted.
