Blues lose to Maple Leafs, Blackhawks shutout Ducks

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Ilya Mikheyev scored the go-ahead goal with 3:15 remaining, lifting the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 6-5 victory over St. Louis. Timothy Liljegren, Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and Michael Bunting also scored for Toronto on Saturday night. Jack Campbell stopped 20 shots. Jordan Binnington made 34 saves for St. Louis, which lost for the first time in regulation at home since Nov. 16. The Blues were 12-0-1 at home during that stretch. Ryan O’Reilly scored twice and Niko Mikkola, Robert Thomas, and Brandon Saad also had goals for the Blues.

CHICAGO (AP) — Marc-André Fleury stopped 37 shots for his third shutout of the season and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 for their fourth straight win. Brandon Hagel, Patrick Kane, and Dominik Kubalik scored goals, and Alex DeBrincat had two assists to help the Blackhawks improve to 14-9-3 under interim coach Derek King. The 37-year-old Fleury recorded his 70th career shutout. Lukas Dostal made 33 saves as the depleted Ducks lost their third straight and fell to 2-6-2 in their last eight.

In other rink action:

— The Boston Bruins needed overtime to complete their fifth straight win and eight in nine games.

Taylor Hall scored 1:41 into the extra session to send the B’s past the Predators, 4-3. Brad Marchand, Craig Smith, and Mike Reilly also scored to support Linus Ullmark’s 26-save performance.

Colton Sissons, Luke Kunin, and Ramon Josi each had a goal for Nashville, which is 13-4-1 in its last 18 games despite their second consecutive loss. Juuse Saros made 40 saves for the Predators.

— The Panthers bombarded the Blue Jackets, 9-2 as Carter Verhaeghe and Anton Lundell each scored twice and MacKenzie Weegar tied a career-best with four points. Aaron Ekblad had three assists for Florida, which is a league-best 26-7-5.

— The Hurricanes stopped a two-game skid as Martin Necas and Vincent Trocheck each had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 downing of the Canucks. Sebastian Aho and Steven Lorentz had the other Carolina goals and Andrei Svechnikov posted two assists in the victory.

— Ross Colton had the tiebreaking goal on a breakaway midway through the third period of the Lightning’s 3-1 verdict over the Stars. Brayden Point and Alex Killorn also scored as Tampa Bay handed Dallas its seventh straight road loss.

— The Avalanche were 5-0 winners over the Coyotes behind two goals apiece from Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon. Darcy Kuemper had 20 saves for his first shutout of the season, helping Colorado improve to 7-0-1 in its last eight games.

— Chris Kreider scored with 6 1/2 minutes left and fellow All-Star Adam Fox had two assists in the Rangers’ sixth win in eight games, 3-2 at Philadelphia. Mika Zibanejad and Filip Chytil also scored against the Flyers, who have dropped seven in a row.

— Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek stopped 23 shots in his third career shutout and seventh win of the season a 2-0 decision over the Islanders. He got all the support he’d need when Tom Wilson scored 4 ½ minutes into the game.

— The Penguins pulled out a 2-1 win over the Sharks on Jake Guentzel’s goal 37 seconds into OT. Guentzel and Kris Letang each scored a goal and had an assist to back Luis Domingue, who had 40 saves in his season debut.

— Josh Norris scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal as the Senators tallied five times in the third period to rally past the Oilers, 6-4. Alex Formenton and Adan Gaudette each had a goal and an assist in Ottawa’s first win of the season when trailing after 40 minutes.

— The Kings also made it four straight wins as Adrian Kempe scored his 17th goal of the season early in the first period before Phillip Danault tallied twice in a 3-1 win versus the Kraken. Seattle has dropped nine straight and 12 of 13.

— Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 22 shots for his fourth career shutout to lead the Red Wings to its first loss in five games, 4-0 against the Sabres. Tyler Bertuzzi had a goal and two assists, and rookie Lucas Raymond had his first goal since Dec. 1.
