Centralia Police say a 38-year-old Odin man escaped injury when his pickup struck two vehicles and a house but was then hurt when beaten up by a person who was in one of the parked cars.

The incident occurred in the 700 block of South Elm where Ryan Edwards allegedly sideswiped one parked vehicle, went back into the roadway before sideswiping a second parked car, and then jumped the curb and ran into the foundation of a vacant home.

Dodson says after the incident, a person in one of the parked vehicles, 27-year-old Kole Koehler of Centralia, struck Edwards. He was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of a swollen shut left eye.

Police say there was only minor damage to the foundation of the home.

The ownership of the home was not immediately available. Edwards was arrested for driving under the influence, illegal lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal transportation of liquor. Koehler was arrested for battery. Both were given notices to appear in court.

The incident was first reported at 12:20 Tuesday morning.
