The Salem Wildcats picked up a hard fought win on the road last night over Roxana 40-34. Salem trailed after the opening quarter 13-11 but held a 28-21 lead at the break and extended that to 10 points in the 3rd quarter but Roxana would not go away. No Cats finished in double figures. Caden Bee and Rolen Adams had 8 points each with 7 from Jakob Koehnke and 6 each from Seth Bailey and Charlie Fehrenbacher. Salem improves to 9-8 on the season and will have a week off before hosting Breese Central next Friday.
Also in the Cahokia Conference last night, Breese Central 71-40 over Wood River, Carlyle beat Okawville 44-29, in overtime it was Freeburg over Columbia 59-50, Red Bud beat Sparta 61-47
The SC Cougars improved to 13-5 with a good home win over Cisne 45-44. Aidan Dodson finished with 15, Keenin Willshire 13 and Spencer Johannes added 12. The JV also earned a win for SC 60-27. The Cougars will play Lawrenceville tonight.
The Sandoval Blackhawks earned a 62-41 home win over Woodlawn.
Centralia bounced back from their loss to Breese Central with an easy 56-35 South 7 home win over Carbondale.
