Salem taking applications for matching grants in downtown TIF District

Salem Economic Development Director Tabitha Meador is accepting applications for matching grants from businesses in the downtown tax increment financing district.

Meador is looking at giving five $10,000 matching grants.   In some past years, three $15,000 grants were awarded.   Meador is looking at making the change because of the interest she has had in businesses wanting to apply.

Interested businesses have until the end of the month to request one of the grants.   The Salem City Council will then review the proposals in February to begin the process of deciding which ones should be accepted.

The Salem City Council agreed at Monday’s meeting with Meador’s proposal to offer additional smaller grants.

Downtown businesses that are interested in submitting a grant request can contact Meador at Salem City Hall for more information.
