The SC Cougars are 11-4 and will play for the Dieterich Holiday Tournament title tonight after a pair of wins yesterday. SC knocked off Patoka 65-43. The newest member of the 1000 point club for the Cougars Keenin Willshire finished with 18 along with Spencer Johannes. Belcher finished with 14 for Patoka to lead the way.
SC then beat CHBC 65-32. Aidan Dodson had 19, Johannes 14 and Willshire 10 in the win. The Cougars will play the host Maroons at 8pm tonight for the championship. The day begins at 1 with OPH and Sullivan for 7th place, and then Arcola CHBC at 2:30 for 5th, Patoka/Odin will take on Red Hill at 4pm for 3rd place.
At Mater Dei yesterday, Metro East Lutheran over Illinois Valley 63-44, Doss beat Wesclin 58-31, Mascoutah over Mater Dei 63-44, Briarcrest beat Highland 59-30, Nashville over MEL 53-43 and Breese Central beat Doss 46-38. Today the day begins at noon with Nashville against IVC, Central and Wesclin at 1:30, Doss takes on Highland at 3, MEL and Mater Dei at 6pm, Mascoutah and Nashville tip at 7:30 and the finale tonight at 9pm is Briarcrest and Central.
At Vandalia yesterday, Cumberland beat the host Vandals in overtime 67-60, Flora over Shelbyville 34-31, TTown JV over Okaw Valley 51-44, Pana beat McGivney 65-52, Macon Meridian 76-54 over Cumberland and Vandalia knocked off Okaw Valley 62-44.
At the Columbia/Freeburg Tournament it was Marquette beating Valmeyer 63-36, Freeburg lost to Civic Memorial 56-53, Waterloo 69-36 over Valmeyer, Marquette beat Gibault 34-21, Civic beat Southwestern 48-34 and Columbia over Freeburg 55-39. The tournament finishes up today. The 7th place game at 2pm is Valmeyer and Southwestern, at 3:30 Gibualt takes on Freeburg for 5th place, the 3rd place game at 5pm see’s Waterloo take on Civic Memorial with the title game at 6:30 between Alton Marquette and Columbia.
The Effingham/TTown Tournament began. St Anthony nipped Centennial 40-38, TTown over Lutheran North 62-35, Effingham beat Dixon 50-47.
