High School Basketball Holiday Tournament Preview

The Salem Wildcats will open up the Duster Thomas today at 10:30 a.m. against the Carlyle Indians on 100.1 FM and streaming at WJBDradio.com.  The winner will play tomorrow at 8 pm against either Olney or Trico, with the loser playing tomorrow at 1:30.

The Tournament opens up with Benton against Greenville at 9 am, followed by Salem and Carlyle, and then at noon, it’s Mt Carmel and Chester.  At 1:30 Jerseyville will take on Woodlawn followed at 3:30 by Okawville and Murphysboro.  At 5 it’s Steeleville and Meridian followed at 6:30 by Pinckneyville and Roxana with the final game of the night at 8 pm featuring Olney and Trico.

Salem Girls open at Benton Tourney:  Today is also the opening day for the Benton Girls Tournament.  The Salem Lady Cats will open up with Christopher at 4:30.  The winner will play tomorrow in the main gym at 6 pm against either Benton or the JV from Carterville with today’s loser playing tomorrow at 6 pm in the East Gym.

The day begins at 9 am with Carterville and West Frankfort followed by Goreville and Marion at 10:30, Mt Vernon plays Herrin at noon, Hamilton County and DuQuoin at 1:30 followed by Benton and the Carterville JV at 3 pm.  Following Salem’s game, it’s Marquette and Harrisburg at 6 pm and then Vienna and Pinckneyville at 7:30.

Other Holiday Tournaments:  At the Dieterich Girls Tournament today, South Central takes on North Clay at 11:30 and then the Lady Cougars get Brownstown/St Elmo at 4 pm.

In the boy’s tournament, the Cougars of SC will play OPH at 5:30.

Today is the opening of the Midwest Farm and Land Winterfest Girls Tournament at Christ Our Rock.  The day begins at 9:30 with Dupo and Webber, followed by Staunton and Anna’s JV, then Anna’s Varsity takes on Sandoval at 12:30 followed by Elverado and Greenville.  Father McGivney will play Madison at 3:30 followed by Vandalia and Johnston City with Wesclin and Carbondale at 6:30 and the hosts taking on Trico at 8 pm.

The Mater Dei Holiday Tournament also opens today at 9 am with Wesclin and Briarcrest, Tennessee followed at 10:30 with Illinois Valley Central and Mascoutah, at 1 pm it’s Breese Central and Highland followed at 2:30 with Nashville and Mater Dei.  Then at 4 pm, it’s Briarcrest and Doss, Kentucky.  At 6:30, Mascoutah takes on Metro East Lutheran Highland and Wesclin at 8 and then tonight at 9:30 it’s IVC and Mater Dei.
