The Salem Wildcats look to snap their 3 game skid tonight at undefeated Freeburg. This will be the 5th undefeated team the Wildcats will have seen since the Thanksgiving Tournament with Salem currently 1-3 in those games. The top seed South Central Cougars saw their 3-pointer to tie as time expired rim out and they fell to the hosts in the semifinals of the 61st annual St Elmo Holiday Tournament 41-38. The Cougars had their chances in the 4th quarter, but could never get over the hump after cutting their deficit to 2 points on a couple occasions. SC was led by Keenin Willshire with 11 and Ethan Watwood added 9 as they fall to 5-4. The Cougars will play tomorrow in the 3rd place game at 6pm against tonight loser between Cumberland and Windsor/SS. In the opening game of the night, Patoka Odin knocked off Mulberry Grove 64-52 and will play tomorrow at 4:30 for the consolation championship against tonight’s winner between Ramsey and CHBC.
It’s the final pool play night at the Wayne City Tournament. Cisne will take on Sandoval at 5:30, Crab Orchard and North Clay at 7:00 and then Edwards County plays Wayne City at 8:30. Last night, Sandoval beat Gallatin County due to forfeit, Crab Orchard over Grayville 78-48 and Webber beat North Clay 67-53.
