The Franklin Park Bobcats came up on the wrong end of a 42-40 overtime decision at Centralia Junior High Wednesday night in middle school basketball action. The Bobcats rode the early hot shooting of Eli Lograsso who scored 16 for the second consecutive game. Salem’s Angel Salgado made 2 big free throws. But Centralia 7th grade point guard Jaxon Hancock then drove the ball to the hoop and was fouled with 1.7 seconds left. He calmly hit a free throw to give the Tigers a big win as both teams are in the same regional along with Highland and Wesclin. Morgan Mickens finished with 9 points for Salem and Salgado added 8. The Bobcats return to action next week at Casey Mt Vernon to finish up the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule.
Salem’s JV took their first loss of the season falling 44-29. Salem cut the Tigers deficit to 4 in the final quarter but couldn’t overcome the early deficit. Caeden Miraglia finished with 10 points for Salem, Payton Gullion added 7 as the Jr Bobcats are now 12-1.
In other action, Irvington/North Wamac/Grand Prairie fell to Woodlawn 49-29 to fall to 8-4 on the season. Amari Joy led them with 13 and Devin Konhorst added 12.
